Piešťany lies on the floodplain of the river Váh in the Dolné Považie region, bordered by the Považský Inovec, White Carpathian and Small Carpathian mountain ranges. There are numerous sights in the area worth taking a trip to, including the Červený Kameň, Beckov, Čachtice, Trenčín and Tematín castles, the Smolenický zámok chateau, the Kostelec nad obcou Ducové ancient Slavic fortress, and the Driny and Čertova Pec (Devil’s Furnace) caves.
